Description of Works:
The Construction of a two storey SEN school teaching building including works to reconfigure the existing Highfurlong School, a link structure constructed between new and existing school buildings and a new access road, carpark and associated external works.
The scope included a Hydrotherapy pool extension and internal alterations to first floor to create compartmentation and additional doors for means of escape.
The project was based on traditional bills of quantities with quantity surveying services being provided initially by the client and latterly in the construction phase by Saunders QS.
Challenges: A multimillion £ project that involved working within and accurately monitoring budgets for the local authority client and managing the construction process adjacent to an active working educational facility.
The hydrotherapy pool extension and associated alterations were added in to the existing contract during the construction phase, on a negotiated basis.
