Description of Works:
The restoration and renovation the original Vicarage and adjacent coach house, into a modern two-storey side extension and a single-storey rear extension, revitalising the historic home for the 21st century.
The building was noted as a building of special interest, so the design and specification had to carefully considered, using local materials for the roof and lime render for the external walls. Inside the building the specification was high-end and high quality. With the client, Architect and Interior Designer considering every aspect of the fit out, with bespoke kitchens and joinery.
The project was based on a schedule of works and detailed drawings with quantity surveying services being provided by Saunders QS.
Challenges: A multimillion £ project that involved working within a tight budget and programme. The location had challenges in terms of finding suitable suppliers and subcontractors.
The location meant working closely with the Main Contractor to ensure the quality suppliers and subcontractor could meet the standards required.
The project was originally started by another Contractor, but following difficulties on site the project was re-tendered. Some works need re-doing to meet regulations and this resulted in a number of delays and cost increases.
